Haiti, in combat, preserved the honor of the sons and daughters of Africa after 300 years of slavery. Its existence led to the eventual destruction of the Western European slave trade in the world, not to mention smashing into smithereens the ideological construct and notion of "white" superiority.

En même temps, on apprenait qu'une entreprise basée au Nicaragua dont Gildan est le seul et unique client, congédiait une cinquantaine d'ouvrières et d'ouvriers qui voulaient se syndiquer...

Several of the state and corporate officials responsible for creating the current crisis in Kanehsatake are doing business in downtown Montréal. People of Montréal are encouraged to take action to expose these institutions for what they are--the pillars of empire, at home and abroad, guilty of genocide, theft, mass disinformation and illegal occupation. Their role in Kanehsatake has been monumental, and is a clear perpetuation of Canada's ongoing war against Indigenous Nations. It is time to take the fight to the doorsteps of these criminals and to demand Canadian decolonization now!

Not since the dark days of the Duvalier dictatorship has Haiti seen such repression. Every week brings new horrors. Police have fired on unarmed demonstrators repeatedly. Former soldiers conduct murderous rampages through popular neighborhoods, leaving dozens of corpses in their wake. Others are arrested or have simply disappeared.

RCMP's David Beer is the UN police commissioner in Haiti; members of the Canadian Forces control UN logistics for operations such as those undertaken today in Cite Soleil.

 
« Haïti n'est pas à vendre », « Libérez les prisonniers politiques en Haïti » et « Latortue assassin -- Paul Martin complice » ; voici quelques-uns des slogans scandés cette fin de semaine à Montréal. Vendredi et samedi passé, le gouvernement canadien tenait une conférence avec une poignée de l'élite de la diaspora haïtienne de deux millions, pour discuter de l'avenir du pays.

Les fonctionnaires canadiens voulant légitimer le renversement du président élu d'Haïti, Jean-Bertrand Aristide, le 29 février dernier, et intéressés par l'amélioration des gains court-terme pour les compagnies occidentales dans ce pays des Caraïbes, ont pris soin de choisir des participants correspondant à ces buts. La Haitian Lawyers Leadership Network [un réseau d'avocats d'origine haïtienne aux É-U], qualifia cette rencontre de rassemblement des « Chalabis d'Haïti ».
