New Protest Weapon unleashed @ Quebec summit

The intifada does not only embody the will of a colonized people to put an end to the rule of an implacably and cynically cruel occupation. The intifada should not be merely viewed as a manifestation of discontent towards the hopelessly corrupt national elite who rule parts of Palestine. This intifada, the culmination of 54 years of resistance to occupation, ethnic cleansing and apartheid, is a spearhead of the world's struggle against imperialism. Its outcome will partially be determined by what the masses of North America do about it.

About 150 protestors took to the streets in solidarity with the political prisoners still being held one month after the Summit of the Americas.

Activists at the May 22 Demo in Quebec City are angry about the treatment of the Germinal 5 and others arrested in connection with Summit protests.

Que reste-t-il de la forêt québécoise? Le Ministère n'a pas les moyens de le savoir, et il n'a même pas les moyens d'appliquer ses lois. Les mesures qu'il propose sont insuffisantes aux yeux du Syndicat qui représente ses travailleurs. Les droits des Cris sont violés, encore. La nature aussi est violée, les lois sont bafouées, et le gouvernement renouvelle malgré tout les permis d'exploitation aux multinationales. Corruption?

There was a lively exchange of ideas outside a public meeting of the Quebec City Municipal Council (which did not admit members of the public who were demonstrating their solidarity with political prisoners).

Quebec Cops did not have any tear gas or rubber bullets on hand for the May 23 demo in solidarity with political prisoners.

Jaggi is forbidden from using a real megaphone, but he still had a couple of things to say to Quebec City cops on May 23 outside the Quebec City Hall.

Une manifestation d'environ 150 personnes a eu lieu hier à Québec pour soutenir les prisonniers politiques du Sommet des Amériques. La manifestation, qui a commencé au Parc de l'Amérique française (où le mur est tombé la première fois le 20 avril), s'est dirigée vers l'hôtel de ville où une séance régulière du conseil de ville se tenait. La tension était au rendez-vous.
