Solidarite internationale[Bil'in, 5 years later] Palestinians tear segregation barrier (TheREALnews)CMAQ via Mic, Monday, February 22, 2010 - 01:03 (Reportage ind. / Ind. news report | Droits / Rights / Derecho | Guerre / War | Repression | Solidarite internationale) In weekly Friday protest in Bi'lin, Palestinian territories, thousands tear through segregation barrier. During the weekly protest in the Palestinian village of Bil'in, thousands of activists assembled to celebrate five years of non-violent resistance. This form of popular struggle has spread to many other Palestinian villages and areas in East Jerusalem. The protests are made to show opposition to the confiscation of roughly half of the village's land by the Israeli Jewish-only settlement colony of Modi'in Illit. In 2007, after the village protested every Friday for almost 3 years, the Israeli Supreme Court ruled that the barrier does not serve a security purpose and ordered it rerouted. The Israeli army however, did not start to reroute the barrier until last week and informed the village that it will only return 364 (or 60%) of its 575 taken acres. During this week's protest the army fired dozens of tear gas canisters, shock grenades, and sprayed the crowd with liquid smelling like sewer and feces. I am informing through Indymedia International, all the workers of the World that they themselves must build their own jobs. All institutions in America public or private are robbing the citizens. Each American must deal with the problem directly. [Canada - Afghanistan] No Olympic Truce in MarjahAnonyme, Friday, February 19, 2010 - 16:40 While our Prime Minister talks about the the “Olympic Truce”, a symbolic suspension of war during the winter games, the people of Afghanistan are facing a new wave of violence. The official website for the 2010 Winter Olympics claims that “Vancouver 2010 aims to pursue the Olympic Truce (www.olympictruce.org) goals of protecting the interests of athletes and contributing to peaceful and diplomatic solutions to conflict around the world.” However, on Friday, February 12, NATO forces launched the largest assault to date in the nine year war. From Nationalism to Internationalism (Fourth part)Anonyme, Friday, February 19, 2010 - 16:17 (Analyses | Economy | Imperialism | Politiques & classes sociales | Repression | Solidarite internationale | Syndicats/Unions - Travail/Labor) This is the fourth part of the booklet From Nationalism to Internationalism. We will publish it in six parts. This booklet tells the story of an activist over a period of about 35 years. His booklet is both intended as a criticism of past activities (for example, a critique of the Maoist current in which he’d long evolved) and to show that these same activities were alien to the proletariat. In fact, he is writing this booklet so that young workers and students can avoid the same mistakes and gain an understanding of the politics of the Communist Left, the real proletarian camp. |
