Par leur accumulation et par leur caractère unilatéral, les commémorations du soixantième anniversaire du Débarquement sont en train d'installer, dans la conscience collective des jeunes générations, une vision mythique, mais largement inexacte, concernant le rôle des Etats-Unis dans la victoire sur l'Allemagne nazie. L'image véhiculée par les innombrables reportages, interviews d'anciens combattants américains, films et documentaires sur le 6 juin, est celle d'un tournant décisif de la guerre. Or, tous les historiens vous le diront : le Reich n'a pas été vaincu sur les plages de Normandie mais bien dans les plaines de Russie.

 
On 1 June, 2004, Ludd, a For Mother Earth Scotland activist handed himself in to the police. A hearing was anticipated on 2 June, 2004. He is spending this time in jail for refusing to pay a £550 fine, imposed on him for opposing Government’s Weapons of Mass Destruction. He was charged only with of a breach of the peace. He was immediately taken to jail for 28 days on an extract warrant.

He states: ‘I have no intention whatsoever to pay any money into a justice system that protects war criminals such as Bush and Blair, and Weapons of Mass Destruction, that are clearly a death sentence to innocent, ordinary people all over the globe. These weapons are used to threaten millions of ordinary people with a slow and horrifying death, with the sole purpose of protecting and enlarging the financial assets of the State and United Kingdom’s elite.

Le vidéo de la présumée décapitation de Nick Berg en Irak suscite bien du mépris et fait ressortir bien des préjugés contre l'islam. Or, pour l'instant, je ne vois que trois vérités : nous ne savons pas qui sont les assassins masqués, la scène est un montage de plusieurs bandes audio et vidéo dont l'authenticité reste à déterminer et, surtout, ce vidéo n'est aucunement représentatif d'un quelconque peuple du monde.

 
Au cours de la dernière année la coalition contre la deportation de réfugiés palestiniens a mené une campagne à Montréal pour combattre la déportation de plus de 100 réfugiés palestiniens du Canada. La majorité des cas de déportation de Palestiniens doivent être entendus au cours des semaines et des mois qui viennent, il y aura donc une série d’actions et d’événements , qui sont organisés pour apporter du support à la lutte contre la déportation de Palestiniens.

Le pouvoir au niveau politique de l’action collective et du support populaire pour les réfugiés palestiniens a été démontré au cours du dernier mois dans le dossier d’Osama Saleh. Après une campagne politique soutenue, la deportation d’Osama vers la Cisjordanie a été arrêtée par un juge de la court fédérale canadienne. La coalition contre la déportation des réfugiés palestiniens continue d’exposer les cas de Khalil Ayoub, 67 ans, de Nabih Ayoub, 69 ans et de Therese Boulos Haddad, 62 ans, trois réfugiés palestiniens du camp de réfugiés d’Ein El-Helweh au Liban qui ont trouvé sanctuaire dans l’Église Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Church depuis le 30 janvier 2004 pour échapper à la déportation.

Malgré ce combat contre la déportation de Palestiniens, Citoyenneté et Immigration Canada maintient sa décision d’essayer de déporter des réfugiés palestiniens vers l’occupation militaire, illégale et meurtrière d’Israël , qui mine la vie de tous les jours en Palestine Occupée où la violence, la pauvreté et la persécution rendent la vie presque impossible, tout comme dans les camps de réfugiés palestiniens au Liban. De plus, il y a reconnaissance sans équivoque du danger et des persécutions que vivent les Palestiniens des territoires occupés. Cette reconnaissance prend la forme d’un avertissement aux voyageurs du bureau Affaires Étrangères du Canada.

Throughout the past year the Coalition Against the Deportation of Palestinian Refugees has led a Montreal based campaign to fight the deportation of more than 100 Palestinian refugees from Canada. A majority of the pending Palestinian deportations are slated for the coming weeks and months, so there are a series of actions and events, which are being organized to build support for the fight against Palestinian deportations.

The political power of collective action and popular support for the Palestinian refugees was clearly illustrated this past month with the case of Osama Saleh. After a persistent political campaign, Osama's pending deportation to the West Bank was halted by a Canadian Federal Court Judge. The Coalition Against the Deportation of Palestinian Refugees continues to highlight the case of Khalil Ayoub, 67, Nabih Ayoub, 69, and Therese Boulos Haddad, 62, three Palestinian refugees from the refugee camp of Ein El-Helweh in Lebanon who have taken sanctuary in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Church since the 30th of January 2004 in order to escape deportation.

Despite this fight against Palestinian deportations, Citizenship and Immigration Canada maintains that their decision to attempt to deport Palestinian refugees to the illegal and deadly Israeli military occupation, which plagues daily life throughout Occupied Palestine and to the violence, poverty and persecution which defines life in the Palestinian refugee camps of Lebanon. Furthermore, there is clear Canadian acknowledgement of the danger and persecution faced by Palestinians in the Occupied Territories. This acknowledgment is outlined by the travel advisory issued by Foreign Affairs Canada .

Colonialism and imperialism causing death of citizens and destruction financed by the American war industry. And this specific state dictatorship encouraging apartheid and isolation of Palestinians in Gaza and Jericho. We stand here to put an end to this, the invasions, the massacres, and the war.
