Montreal- The World Trade Organisation's mini-ministerial meetng will unfold at Montreal's Sheraton Centre from July 28th to 30th.This meeting brings together the finance ministers from 25 countries plus the Europeen Union. Supachai Panitchpakdi, director-general of the WTO is also expected to be present.

One of the main objectives of the Montreal mini-ministerial is consensus-building among what is in fact is a minority of its members before their ministerial meeting in Cancun, Mexico, September 10-14, 2003.

On the agenda: the privatisation of services through the General Agreement on Trade in Services, the protection of corporate privaledges such as Chapter 11 of NAFTAA, access to public markets, investment, and political leverage.

Weeks after Pierre Pettigrew's declaration that the "anti-glibalisation" movement has "completely dissapeared," the Popular Mobilisation Against the WTO is organising 5 days of creative resistance, popular education, and direct action with the goal of disturbing the WTO meetings in Montreal.

CMAQ, Montreal Indymedia, and many volunteers have set up an Independent Media Centre that will be open throughout the days of action.

Each day during the mobilisation, IMC Quebec will produce a "News Poster" that will be put up all over downtown Montreal to inform citizens as to the week's developments and details about the protests. In the first edition, IMC activists covered the Teach In that was held at UQAM on July 26th.
