Le rédacteur en chef du journal et son adjoint – tous deux en charge du dossier Proche-Orient – ont été remplacés en janvier; le second actionnaire du journal subit une reprise en main; un article de l’intellectuel d’origine palestinienne Edward Saïd a été coupé dans ses passages les plus critiques envers l’Onu, Israël et les USA; des membres de la rédaction sont directement intervenus dans un prix littéraire jusque-là indépendant. Cela s’ajoute aux millions d’euros prêtés par le mensuel au groupe le Monde, dont les caisses sont chroniquement vides, alors que la diffusion du Monde diplomatique est en baisse et que l’équilibre des comptes ne repose que sur les produits dérivés. En tant que responsables de l’association des Amis du Monde diplomatique, nous nous alarmons de cette situation.
