C’est dans un Venezuela en pleine révolution bolivarienne que s’est tenu le VIe Forum social mondial (FSM) du 24 au 29 janvier 2006. Réparti sur trois continents, le FSM polycentrique 2006 se tenait d’abord à Bamako au Mali , du 19 au 23 janvier, avant celui de Caracas au Venezuela et celui de Karachi au Pakistan qui aura lieu du 24 au 29 mars prochain. Réunissant 80 000 intellectuellEs, déléguéEs d’organisations locales et internationales, syndicalistes, militantEs, féministes, écologistes et membres de la société civile, la rencontre de Caracas a permis aux personnes et aux organisations désireuses de construire des alternatives sociales, culturelles, politiques et économique au néolibéralisme de se rencontrer, de créer des réseaux d’échange et de préparer ensemble des actions communes.
