Michael Cohen (nature@pacificrim.net)

People who visit a natural area and spend most of their time there habitually thinking about other things have become Ecozombies, environmentally insensitive deadheads. Their inherent ability to register and benefit from contact with nature's purity has been compulsively focused elsewhere.

Most of us are ecozombies. On average, over 95% of our time and 99.9% of our thinking is disconnected from nature. This staggering disconnection deteriorates our ability to think and relate in balance, like nature works. It produces the hurtful stress that underlies personal and global disorders.

A good experience with Nature, even with your pet, tells you that our psyche and soul naturally seek Nature's peaceful equilibrium, healing, and regenerative qualities. For this reason, a psychological science the Natural Systems Thinking Process (NSTP) is an ecozombie antidote. Conflicting and destructive relationships always improve with education or counseling that includes NSTP sensory contact with nature.
