Maritime Anti-FTAA Caravan (CASA/CLAC)

Between February 1st-10th, members of the Anti-Capitalist Convergence (CLAC) in Montreal, and the Summit of the Americas Welcoming Committee (CASA) in Quebec City, will be undertaking an anti-FTAA caravan to the Maritime provinces, as well as New Hampshire, in anticipation of the upcoming Summit of the Americas meeting in Quebec City this April 2001.

Between February 1st-10th, members of the Anti-Capitalist Convergence (CLAC) in Montreal, and the Summit of the Americas Welcoming Committee (CASA) in Quebec City, will be undertaking an anti-FTAA caravan to the Maritime provinces, as well as New Hampshire, in anticipation of the upcoming Summit of the Americas meeting in Quebec City this April 2001.

The caravan, in collaboration with local groups, will be presenting workshops and presentations on the FTAA, the Summit of the Americas, as well the broader context of capitalist globalization. CASA and CLAC are anti-capitalist, anti-authoritarian groups in Quebec actively organizing against next April's Summit.

Caravan participants include Oscar Carillo Arroyo who is a member of the CLAC, as well as a political refugee from Mexico where he was active in the general strike at the National Autonomous University of Mexico City (UNAM). Other participants include Ian Renaud-Lauze of the CASA, and Jaggi Singh and Raphaelle Valay of the CLAC.
