Support First Nations Community Grassy NarrowsAnonyme, Miércoles, Abril 19, 2006 - 15:33
RAN
Rainforest Action Network is supporting the Canadian indigenous community of Grassy Narrows in their struggle to stop Weyerhaeuser and Abitibi from logging on their land, and to regain their right to self-determination on their traditional territory. Support their cause by signing the online petition and checking out other forms of action at www.FreeGrassy.org The Grassy Narrows' struggle is the perfect example that highlights what is wrong with status-quo forestry practices in the Boreal Forest, with these companies converting endangered forests and a way of life into Xerox copy paper and building materials for the U.S. housing industry. You can help save the Boreal and the threatened way of live for Grassy Narrows by taking some of the following actions: 1) Check out the website www.FreeGrassy.org and sign the online petition that supports Grassy Narrows. 2) Spread the word about www.FreeGrassy.org by telling friends and family via email, newsletters or website postings/links. We want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to decide if they too would like to support the Grassy Narrows petition. and/or 3) Host a movie night and watch a documentary that illustrates the struggles and strength of the Grassy Narrows people as they try to get logging companies off their native lands. For more information on a movie night and to receive a copy of the DVD pelease email David Sone at dso...@ran.org. |
