Journée de libération médiatique

Anonyme, Miércoles, Octubre 13, 2004 - 14:45

Modeled after Earth Day, International Media Democracy Day is an international day of education, celebration and protest designed to increase public awareness around media issues, promote grassroots media alternatives and put media reform on the political agenda at the local, national and international levels. International Media Democracy Day was started in Vancouver, Canada four years ago.

Media democracy promotes a mass media system that informs and empowers all members of society. International Media Democracy Day is a day of action based on three themes:

Education - understanding how the media shapes our world and democracy
Protest - against a media system based on commercialization and exclusivity
Change - call for media reforms that respond to public interests, promote diversity and ensure community representation and accountability
The 4th Annual International Media Democracy Day will be celebrated in Montreal at Concordia University on Monday, October 18, 2004, with an exciting day of discussions, workshops, screenings and an alternative media fair. The evening will consist of live music by local and international groups.

This is an alternative media using open publishing. The CMAQ collective, who validates the posts submitted on the Indymedia-Quebec, does not endorse in any way the opinions and statements and does not judge if the information is correct or true. The quality of the information is evaluated by the comments from Internet surfers, like yourself. We nonetheless have an Editorial Policy , which essentially requires that posts be related to questions of emancipation and does not come from a commercial media.
