Grassy Narrows: the longest-standing blockade in Canadian history
One year into the blockade, the people of Grassy Narrows continue to defend their land, with the support of many other Indigenous communities, as well as various non-native solidarity groups. The struggle has spread across the continent; most recently taking aim at Abitibi’s exploitative practices, and the Ontario and Canadian governments’ continuing failure to act in accordance with their very own colonial laws and treaties.
