Marie-Eve Lamy

Berlusconi’s Mousetrap is a two hours video-documentary made by people from Indymedia Ireland, about the protests against the G8 conference in Genoa, Italy in the summer of 2001. More than 200.000 people joined those protests. Genoa also became known for the extreme violence the police used against the demonstrators. One of them was killed and hundreds got severely injured.

The documentary tries to reconstruct the strategy the government forces used during those days.
One of the interesting aspects of the documentary is that activists look back at their own actions in Genoa, and conclude that often they played the exact role the police wanted them to play. This makes the documentary very fit for discussions amongst activist about tactics and strategies during future protests...
