Two and a half years after Bush announced that the US mission was accomplished, the war still rages. The US is still bombing bridges over the Euphrates as it did in the early days of the war. It is still starving cities and razing them to the ground with enormous loss of Iraqi life. In the south, the British have succeeded in falling out with the Iraqi political forces which they themselves installed in power.
