Apparently we need more education in the obvious than we do examination of the obscure. OUR government is the citizens’ government. THEIR government is the corporate government. Corporations are machines, not citizens. Our government consists of men and women ruled by our conscience. Their government consists of men and women ruled by machines. The current global rebellion against neoliberal corporate globalism is a turning point in the world's history. The successful blockade of the Seattle WTO meeting on November 30, 1999 is remembered in the North as the first mass demonstration and the beginning of the 'anti-globalization' movement. However, the origins of the movement lie in the post-1989 period, when the fall of state socialism around the world resurrected the New Left type of anti-state, anti-corporate activism that was born in the Counterculture of the 1960s.
