Le déclenchement de la « guerre contre le terrorisme générique » qui a suivi les attaques du 11 septembre 2001 a laissé émerger plusieurs pratiques prohibées par le droit international dont la torture. Ce sont des principes auxquels on ne peut déroger sous aucun prétexte et qui s’imposent à tous. La dure réalité de la torture est un phénomène complexe qui nous affecte tous. En fait, ces horreurs sont redevenus l’ordre du jour d‘un fléau mondial qui n’est plus l’apanage de quelques dictatures puisqu’il s’ingère maintenant dans de nombreuses démocraties occidentales.

Paranoia Grips the U.S. Capital

When people talk about the coup, they talk about it being against President Aristide, they don't recognize that it's also the elected officials from the year 2000 elections that were cancelled. In place of those elected officials are
criminals, gang leaders, former CIA employees that were hiding in the Dominican Republic and armed by the US and used to overthrow the government.

The University of Miami Law School’s recently released report exposes widespread human rights abuses taking place in Haiti under the U.S.-backed government that ousted elected President Jean Bertrand Aristide. A team of investigators from UMLS’ Center for the Study of Human Rights visited Haiti, Nov. 11-21, 2004.

On December 28, more than 10 residents are reported as having been executed, some in Corridor Bassia while others were taken in Delmas and killed there.

Take a look at an object rescued from the memory hole. It's a New York Times article from the era of the Vietnam War: Peter Grose, "U.S. Encouraged by Vietnam Vote" (September 4, 1967, p. 2). Its lead paragraph reads: "United States officials were surprised and heartened today at the size of turnout in South Vietnam's presidential election despite a Vietcong terrorist campaign to disrupt the voting." Sounds Familiar?

So; what can the world expect from another lying US Secretary of State?
