Amnesty International condamne avec la plus grande vigueur le massacre de membres de l’ethnie Hmong perpétré par des soldats de l’armée laotienne le mois dernier dans le nord de la province de Vientiane. L’attaque meurtrière menée le 6 avril 2006 à une vingtaine de kilomètres au nord de la ville touristique de Vang Vieng a coûté la vie à 26 personnes au moins, pour la plupart des femmes et des enfants. Quatre autres personnes ont été blessées.

Les victimes du massacre font partie d’un groupe de population hmong issu d’un mouvement d’opposition armé en lutte depuis des décennies contre l’armée laotienne, dont il subsiste quelques poches disséminées sur le territoire laotien. Ces populations sont dans l’ensemble complètement abandonnées à leur sort.
