Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today announced that the governments of Iraq and Afghanistan have been served with a civil lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed in December, 2001 on behalf of a victim, who wishes to remain anonymous for security reasons, against the government of Iraq, Osama bin Laden, Al Qaeda, the government of Afghanistan, and the Taliban for the murder of his wife, who was killed at the Trade Center on September 11. The lawsuit seeks damages under, among other causes of action, the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, which exempts Iraq and Afghanistan from sovereign immunity for terrorist activity.
