Montreal: A weekend to discuss our struggle against Patriarchy

Introducing the "Montreal Anti-Patriarchy Conference Dec. 1-2"

Greetings all,

NEFAC (the North-East Federation of Anarcho-Communists) is organizing a weekend of reflection dealing with the struggle against patriarchy, its actualities, history, and realities. This event seeks to create a space where all persons and organizations are invited to share their will and effort to understand patriarchy as a complex and well-developed form of social repression and oppression. Gaining collective inspiration from our experiences, ideas, and projects is also an objective of this event.

The meeting will take place Dec. 1-2 at the LOYOLA BUILDING at Concordia University. The event will be based around workshops.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

Saturday December 1
9-10 - Welcome & Introduction
10-1 - Workshop-Discussion on theory and history of patriarchy
1-2 - Lunch
2-5 - Workshop-Discussion on patriarchy, sexism, and heterosexism with Norman Nawrocki (Montreal-based theatre activist/performer)
5 - dinner
7 - Film Screening - "Des lumières dans la grande noirceur" (in french)

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2
10-1 - Workshop-Discussion - Family, Relationships, and Gender Socialization
1-2 - Lunch
2-5 - Workshop/Panel Discussion - Patriarchy, capitalism, and social struggles

Loyola will be open on Friday the 30th for those in need of accommodation. Food will be served and childcare will be available free of charge. There will also be translation.

A contribution of $5 is suggested. It would be great if you registered and paid in advance by writing to one of the addresses below:
