WHY: *Fremont: Global Exchange of San Francisco is calling for California state-wide woman's solidarity event; A WOMAN'S CALL FOR PEACE, in Fremont, California. Fremont has the largest Afghani population in the US and this event is expected to draw thousands showing their support and solidarity with this community. *Garberville: The Garberville Vets for Peace are taking the Peace Bus to the San Francisco peace demonstrations on Saturday, September 29. The bus will leave the VFW hall on Conger St., in Garberville, at 6:00AM, and will return to Garberville that night. *Hayward: Afghan women of the Fremont/Hayward area, home of the largest Afghan community in the entire United States, will join with women throughout California to host a gathering for peace on Sunday, September 30. The event will be in recognition of our common humanity, through music, song, and poetry. We will raise funds to help Afghan women and to promote the peace movement. Children welcome. $5-50 donation requested. Humboldt: The American flag belongs to all of us. Peace is an American Dream - war is our worst nightmare. While unclear what the current flag displays really mean, it is safe to assume that revenge and support for the upcoming war effort is a part of that display. We need to counteract that display with one of our own - demonstrating our disgust with all forms of terrorism, including state (U.S.) sponsored.
