Quebec City : The Germinal Five Free, at last ! but not without conditions

Quebec City, may 28th 2001 [A-Infos] - More than 40 days after their arrests, Victor Quentin, Roman Pokorski, Alex Boissonneault, Mario Bertoncini and Serge Vallée, the five political prisonners of the Germinal Movement, where finaly released on bail today. This morning, a juge from the superior court overtrow the previous decision to let them rot in prison and instead judge that they did not constitute a danger to society, that there was little chance that, the Summit being over, thy would commit any other "offense" and their liberation would not undermine the public confidence on the administration of justice (quite the contrary!).

The conditions

This said, the judge didint just release them like this, there's also conditions and this is where we reconise that old class justice system. Indeed, not only do they have to "have a good behavor" and "keep the peace", but the activists are also formaly forbiden to communicate between themself wich, not only will undermine their hability to have "a full and juste" defense, but can also pose serious problems when we know that 3 out of the 5 leave together... To this condition we must also add that they must report every two weeks to the officer in charge of the infiltration (!!) and to be home between 9PM and 7AM. Finaly, parents had to engage themself to pay 10 000 $ if ever their kids breack these conditions (wich make you think twice!).
