the "fortress europe"...

By using the concept of a "fortress europe", the rich countries of the industrialized north have managed to spare themselves almost completely against the worldwide migration movement. The frontiers are closed and a highly technical, military arsenal is being employed in order to secure the borderlines. For refugees, which manage to cross, "normal life" is made impossible: by racism, bureaucratic control of living conditions, internment in camps and homes, deportation jail, etc.
Migrants who have lived in Germany for a long time, are also discriminated by the refusal of residence permits and papers; always in relation to the economic benefits they could possibly bring, of course. These politics of illegalizing "unwanted" immigrants culminates in taking radical measures to end residential stay - deportation.

...deports people...

More than 40.000 people, refuees as well as immigrants, are yearly being deported from Germany. The greater part of these deportations is realized by plane: more than 32.000 people, very often fettered, gaged and narcotized, are brought out of the country this way.
On May 28, 1999, Amir Ageeb from Sudan suffocated and died from mistreatment by German border police while being deported on a Lufthansa airplane.

...made possible by Lufthansa!

The German airline Lufthansa, working and making money in the name of this racist refugee and migration politics, has been criticized heavily in public for its deportation business. After all, the company is selling most of the deportation tickets. The death of Amir Ageeb was the beginning of a worldwide campaign against the deportation business: Stop "deportation-class"!

We announce: Lufthansa goes offline!

The economic vision for the future of Lufthansa Airlines is e-commerce: via internet the market of the future shall be conquered. At the moment, only 10% of all the bookings for Lufthansa is done by internet. However, this is supposed to change: According to Lufthansa plans, 40% of all the sales shall be done via internet by 2005.
The internet is for Lufthansa, as well as for a lot of other companies, the strategically most important sector of the future.
When companies, which use deportation to make money, establish their biggest branches in the net, should not we also protest exactly there?
In the last years, the internet has become an economically, politically, and socially important sector. During this time, political action via internet has grown internationally, but especially in the US. This way public awareness can be created and pressure exerted. We want to further these attempts to create a room for protest and resistance.
online-action cannot replace street-action, but can be an effective supplement. The net offers enormous possibilities for international co-operation and communication, which we want to develop. Today, it´s Lufthansa Airlines, tomorrow Air France, the day after that Sabena...

Online-demonstration against the deportation business

This is a call to massively and simultaneously block the entrance to the website of Lufthansa Airlines, in which flights can be booked, on 20.6.2001 at 10.00 a.m. (GMT).

How to do this?
Well, just like a sit-in, but using the net: If a lot of people log themselves into the website of Lufthansa at the same time, the entrance to this publicly displayed webpage can be blocked due to overload.

Is it really that simple?
Of course, within limits: The company has an enormous computer capacity to serve its presence in the net and is therefore able to ''digest'' a great amount of requests at the same time.
That is why we will provide a user-friendly protest-software, which will make it possible to keep the computers of Lufthansa busy by using an automaticized inquiry.
Our aim is to show massive and international criticism of the Lufthansa Airlines deportation business. Moreover, the actual (and short-term) blockade of the website itself will also damage the image of Lufthansa.

That´s why we say: Lufthansa goes offline! Stop deportation business!
