Colorado StreetMedics (streetmedics@aigis.com)
PLEASE DISTRIBUTE WIDELY! The Colorado StreetMedics and Rocky Mountain IMC, members of which were present during the anti-FTAA protests in Québec City, are preparing a report on police abuses, brutality and violations of national and international laws by law enforcement forces in Québec, with an emphasis on attacks against the volunteer medical teams which were present during the protests. To this end we are calling for copies of eyewitness reports, photos, audio and video tapes and any other media coverage of such acts by Québec and Canadian police forces. Specifically we are looking for reports or footage of the following alleged or known incidents: 1. Clear targeting or harassing of identifiable medical teams while they are providing medical assistance. 2. The forced evacuation of medics from the alley area next to the clinic on Côte d'Abraham late afternoon on Saturday April 21st. 3. The breaking of the clinic on Côte d'Abraham window by unknown persons sometime after midnight on Saturday April 21st to Sunday April 22nd. 4. Police obstruction of ambulances which were attempting to access or evacuate injured persons. 5. Use of ambulances as decoy vehicles to transport riot police to or near protest areas. 6. Refusal of medical transport or medical treatment of injured persons by police, ambulances, doctors or hospitals 7. Any other information or evidence that people consider relevant to our investigation. We are looking for written reports (in English or French), interviews, photos, audio and video tapes by medics, injured protesters, protesters, eyewitness bystanders, or journalists. We would like each piece of evidence to include legal name, address, phone number and e-mail if available, as well as permission to include such evidence in our report in both printed and electronic form. The actual report will only include names and city of residence. Full address, phone and e-mail info will be kept in our files for verification purposes. If you wish, you may provide us with an alias to be included in the report instead of your legal name, which will be kept in our files only. If you do not wish to provide us with a legal name and full contact information then we are still interested in your information, especially if it is photos, audio or video, but we may not be able to include it in our final report. We will not be able to return any material sent to us so please do not send originals unless prior arrangements have been made. It is our intention to submit our final report to the general activist community as well as to Amnesty International, the Canadian Red Cross, the International Red Cross/Red Crescent Society and any other organizations, governmental or not, which we feel are appropriate. We also will be sharing our information with the Québec activist legal teams. All information or questions can be submitted electronically to mailto:streetmedics@aigis.com (we can receive attachments of any standard file formats) or via postal service to: Colorado StreetMedics In solidarity, Pavlos Stavropoulos |
