over 150 people have not been allowed to phone out of jail
yet SOLIDARITE reigns strong.
1st hearing 930 am mon morning - venez nombreux! come !

SO-SO-SO!!! SOLIDARITE!

bail hearing Tomorrow morning 9-30 am
court room 215 at courthouse near train station
two people using nicknames
justice
bilo
palaid de justice 300 blv jean lesageroom 215
act lowkey as far as we know

The arrests are numbered at 350.
Only 200 people have been spoken to by lawyers.
Quite a number of people have been in jail over 24h.

The lawyers have been trying since yesterday to meet with clients.
However, only 20 detainees have been seen in 2 days.

The prison is making excuses -- only approx 2 were seen yesterday, and 18 today.

People are asking to make phone calls
but they are visibly being denied, since we havent heard from them.
Hence, we know 150 people have not been heard from
This number coincides with the number established by tallying the buses that enter the compound, as
well as what was recorded of those missing from the street.

Some of the conversations reflect the conditions in the jail.

There are reports of violence: pain compliance is reported to have been used

some people reporting brutality

main thing you are hearing: basic human dignity denied.
People told the water to drink is contaminated
Then the guards came back saying it had been fixed -- fear tactic

People who need medical are being denied it.

Women were given sour milk and told it was sour.
Menstruating women denied tampax and maxi pads

Maximum time in jail since friday: nearly 3 days by now.

Only 20 released

In the courts people who go before judge want to see judge live
and not on video screen in room. this is a right . The judges have denied
even when detainees don't consent : the j makes them to ahead on screen anyway

The result of those who go before the judge is:
the prosecutor (= the crown) requests for the judge to keep them for 3 days
after which the judge decides. In this case , people then held for 3 more days.

The arguments that was made by lawyers:

After 24 hrs you are supposed to see judge
if you dont , if the writ can be argued, lawyer can do "writ of habeus corpus" i.e. literally 'bring the body fwd ' .
in partic cases the way the objection raised: they changed the time of arrest to make it appear they were there less time

Other points
something else they sayd
more reasons why protesters held:
i summit
ii if they didnt give theyr id. (when people are in jail they are idenfied by nb)

over the next days people will be seeing judge

meeting with people
one person being denied medical
pleople usuing solidarity
people taking care of group
one of the ways chanting what people need
spread down a cell block
bring medical aid
chanting for wahter brought water

anywhere from 15-30 cjhoosign not to give names
asked to be treated as group
others asking to ask to be all a group
all agree
thaat's what they want
at least to meet as a group in the jail

efficiency make demands as group at IMF protest succeeded
demanding chanting
all moved into gymnasium
negotiate as group eg like in washing ton
this enabled them to argue same charges-- this is jsut an example

makes a difference if they see their lawyers
lawyers are trying to see lawyers

fun story
one woman has nickname
justice
another called liberte
justice and liberte together in a cell
singing and chanting
solidarity
prison gards took justice away

tell people 24 h vigil outside orsainville prison
until everyone released
heard chanting from inside

neg stories
held on buses 12h
spoke to woman : kept inside bus from 630 pm to light outside (dawn)
12h !

men taken into compound
made to strip in inner courtyard & hosed with cold water
naked together
witnessed by anattorney from legal team from inside wating room

confrimed from Qc Legal Collective.

goodnight
SO - SO - SO!!!
