COMMUNIQUÉ --- La CLAC’S CULTURAL COMITTEE (Anti-Capitalist Convergence)vieuxcmaq, Tuesday, April 10, 2001 - 11:00

LAST CHANCE TO BOARD LA CLAC'S CREATIVE TRAIN !!! COMMUNIQUÉ --- La CLAC’S CULTURAL COMITTEE (Anti-Capitalist Convergence) Street performers, magicians, hypnotizers, contortionnists, dancers, painters, comedians, yos, ravers, gothiks, redskins, no style, daddy-mommy’s boy/girl, virgins, sex maniacs, straight, homos&lesbians, intellectuals, proletarians, fucked up people, objects swallowers, fire swallowers, vegans or junk-food addicts, THIS IS THE LAST CALL TO BOARD LA CLAC’S CREATIVE TRAIN!!! On the basis of the Carnival Against Capitalism, La CLAC’s Cultural Comittee has declared PARTYING a legitimate mean of resistance for those who desire NOR to GOVERN, NOR TO BE GOVERNED, and especially NOT by a shitstem which thinks only in ECONOMICAL terms ! Festive energy is a taoist anarchy which will always be opposed, because of its SYNERGETIC chaotic nature, to any form of unspontaneous, artificially-imposed Law or Order, like Money and State. We intend to establish Temporary Autonomous Zones (TAZ) of FESTIVE nature within which ANY HUMAN BEING REFUSING TO USE ANY FORM OF AUTHORITY WILL HAVE ACCESS TO. No IDs, swearings or vows are required; good will is enough. Cops and Autocrats, BEWARE ! : you’re only cheating yourselves ! If we catch you dancing, we’ll send you our NINJAS ! GET TOGETHER AT L’X There, we will start building all the props necessary for the Summit. We’ll also hold a logistical meeting to coordinate all the cultural actions. We’ve received many demands from groups coming from a wide diversity of aritistical tactics. They all expressed their desires to come and perform in Quebec City during The Summit. Still, IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN US! Here’s where we’re at : 1) We hope to be able to organize creative workshops on the 17,18 and 19 of April IN QUEBEC CITY. Get to the Bus Arrival Center at the Centre Horizon in Limoilou, (exact location to come) to know where the artistic workshops are taking place. WE ASK YOU TO BRING THE MOST MATERIAL YOU CAN SINCE WE HAVE VERY LIMITED MEANS! CLAC/CASA’s Convergence Center, Laval University along with the territory of l’Îlôt-Fleurie, on Charest boulevard under the Dufferin Highway, will be a hot spots for creative actors wishing to get together. 2) For all of you who have specific demands (fixed or mobile location, missing material, schedules, … most of these infos will only be available as you get in Quebec City. Again, we recommend you bring everything you need since our resources are very limited (paint, papers, wood, … it can always be useful to others…). Again, arrive soon (18-19), we’ll need help. Concerning the Torchlight March This should start around 8-9PM but we need people to finish the constructions. A workplace will be available. More infos to come shortly. About the 20th during the day The last infos available tend to express the idea that the march might still start at Laval University, again. Nothing’s confirmed. You’ll see when you get there. For the creative workshops, the same places will hold. IF YOU COME FROM OUTSIDE CANADA, the remaining problem is crossing the border. Borders will most probably be blocked. There’s evidence that customs are already watching closely who gets in or not. Activists recently encountered troubles coming up North. If you come from the States, we see three options for you considering this minor inconvenience : 1) You get together with groups organizing actions at the border. If you all get in, good, if not, you paralyze the border in solidarity. An American Convergence Center will be set in Burlington, VT. In New York, Ya Basta has called for a People’s Caravan tom mobilize from all points in America and cross the canadian Border ar Cornwall, New York. The crossing is being coordinated with a group from the Mohawk Indian Tribe. 2) You get together with your local groups and organize an action in your own town in solidarity with La CLAC’s Carnival against Capitalism during the three days of the Summit of the Americas (April 20th to 22nd). 3) You try to get across either through the little roads and villages or the Akwesasne Natives Reserve. http://www.ocap.ca/akwesasne-statement.html Their web site is at and their email is: o...@tao.ca For lodging in Quebec City, hurry up and contact OQP 2001 hebe...@oqp2001.org Transport from Montreal, again, hurry up and contact FTAA Alert at 931-2377 // 1242 Mackay or l’UQAM at 987-7042 All in all, let us know if you’re planning something at (La CLAC’s Cultural Committee) carn...@mail.com Good Luck ! INFOS FOR MUSIC BANDS*********************************** ***CLAC/CASA are horribly poor; since it is an association of individuals, we do not benefit from the funding of unions, NGOs, associations… Our technical means are limited. If you can raise some cash, it’d help us a lot.*** 1--- For bands with a ‘rock’ setup (guits, bass, drums,…), we’ll have a possibility to make you perform under a roof or on a fixed stage. Send us your request with technical specs. More infos if you ask. For now, we’re mostly thinkin about the day of the 20th. OR 2--- For bands with a ‘hip hop’ setup (turntables, CD, tape, mics, …), a mobile sound system will be effective WITHIN THE GREEN ZONE of the demos. This system will function during the March with Torches on the 19th during the evening. We want this demo to be the least provocative in order NOT to risk any arrest. On the 20th, the ‘dance-machine’ will be " patrolling " GREEN district(s?) only. Contact us for the logistics. Things are moving so fast now, it’s impossible to predict the totality of means and locations that’ll be available to us when the time will come. Let’s say it all looks good. Contact us if you wish to help us out.
