Be On Time. Mask and hood suggested.

The four days of fiery riots which engulfed England since the police killing of Mark Duggan has warmed our hearts. We have not forgotten the sixty or more killings by the SPVM that have occurred in Montreal since 1987 alone. Since this past January, Jean-Claude Lemay (Rosemont), Patrick Saulnier (Beaconsfield), Mario Hamel and Patrick Limoge (in downtown) have all been the targets of police bullets.

In Montreal, like in London, the police exist to maintain the social order of capital, acting to legitimize the use of their power. They are an occupying army in our streets, parks and in our daily lives. They force us to respect and abide by the laws of authority, regardless of whether or not it is in our best interest. They harass us, they arrest us, they make us powerless and they try to convince us that our neighbors are our worst enemy who will do nothing but steal from us. In this sense, we become isolated and alienated. The presence of the police assures the pacification of precarious workers, the unemployed, youth, races of minority, sex-workers, people without homes, people without status and all those who are fed up with this world. In maintaining the social peace, the police allow the circulation of commodities to flow freely through the main arteries of the cities, the train lines, the bridges, the highways, the shipping ports and the airports. The rich of the dominant social class uphold this through the exploitation and domination of the working majority. This is incontestable.

This is why we will occupy the streets, in a fashion that we create. Let’s find each other in the streets in our strength and as accomplices against capitalism and the police who obstruct our lives. In solidarity with rioters in England, with our comrades still facing intensifying repression since the G-20 and with the prisoners on hunger strike in Pelican Bay in California. We must stay uncontrollable!
