Happy Hour and Film Night

Happy Hour benefit for the 13th International Day Against Police Brutality

Come and take a well diserved break at the IMC, sip on a cocktail, you know, chill out...

When we feel like it, we'll get that film thing going, with

“The Potentiality of Storming Heaven”
a short video presentation of the insurrection in Greece and elsewhere in Europe, last December, following the murder of 15 years old Alexis Andreas Grigoropoulos by Athens police.
Produced by some of the folks involved in the insurrection...
Greek, English subtitles (2008) 28 m. 30 s.

We then will proceed to (re)watch the classic masterpiece from Mathieu Kassovitz

La Haine

We've seen it, we've enjoyed it several times, we want to see it again!

Policemen have gravely injured young Abdel, who is now in a coma. In response, cité residents riot and square off with police all night. In the morning, one of the cops has lost his gun, and Vinz found it. A close friend of Abdel, Vinz is hell bent on taking revenge; he has « la haine», hatred. His buddies Saïd and Hubert will try all day to persuade him to calm down...
Réal. Mathieu Kassovitz
French, English subtitles (1995) 97 minutes

Then, whatever happen happens

Jusqu’ici, tout va bien...

A presentation of the Montreal Independent Media Centre, a benefit for the 13th International Day Against Police Brutality.

Don't forget the 13th International Day Against Police Brutality
