Bury The Dead is a play about the brutality of war and six dead soldiers' refusal to be buried so that the truth of that horror will not be buried with them. With the death toll in Iraq rising every day, the play's subject is relevant to today. September 19th will see simultaneous readings of the play in many cities across North America, including Toronto, New York, Buffalo , San Francisco, Kitchener/Waterloo and Montréal. Full details of the international mobilization are available at www.burythedead.ca. In each city funds raised will go towards building a local anti-war organization. In the Montreal case, the money will be sent to the War Resisters Support Campaign, an organization that is working to get status in Canada for conscientious objectors who have fled the US Army. There will be two parts to the Montreal event: a reading and a theatrical action facilitated by the Optative Theatrical Laboratories.
