Peaceful March for Tibet in Ottawa on March 10th

March 10 is symbolically recognized by Tibetans as the commemoration of the sad day Tibet was lost to China in 1959.

Tibetans and their supporters will hold a peaceful march in Ottawa on Thursday, March 10 to urge Prime Minister Martin and the Government of Canada to actively promote negotiations on the issue of Tibet between the Dalai Lama and China.

Events will formally start at 1 pm at Parliament Hill, then proceed to the Embassy of China and finally end at 4:30 pm at the International Human Rights monument that was inaugurated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1990.

Activities include speeches by Members of Parliament, Canada Tibet Committee, Tibetan Women’s Association, Tibetan Youth Association and Students for a Free Tibet Canada, as well as symbolic Tibetan Buddhist group actions for peace.

The Montreal chapter of the Canada Tibet Committee, along with the Tibetan Cultural Association of Quebec, is providing FREE transport for up to two buses (96 people) from Montreal to Ottawa and return. Free bus transport will only be offered to those who RSVP by email to ring...@yahoo.ca.

Buses will pick up participants on March 10, 2005 at the following locations and times:
