Iraq Solidarity Project member Ehab Lotayef left Montreal for Baghdad in early December, to visit a country he hasn't seen since the early 70's. But before he even left the continent, he and his travelling companion, photographer Babak Salari, got their first taste of the "war on terror" while transitting through New York. Then, what is it about? Cairo, December 6, 2003. The plane landed in JFK. It was an Egypt Air flyight from Montreal to Cairo, via New York. We had gone through security checks in Montreal. My travel partner, Babak Salari is a photographer who is always concerned about the rolls of raw film he carries. X-ray machines are a nightmare to him, since they can so eaily damage the sensitive films and render all his work useless, after it becomes too late to do anything about it.
