Not In Our Name Project: Easy Action #1
Chalk the Names of the Killed Iraqi and Afghani Civilians

Not In Our Name Project: Easy Action #1

Tuesday October 7th Chalk the Names of Afghani and Iraqi civilians killed on the grounds of your campus.

You will need:

Some Chalk: You can buy this at any drug store or toy store
The Names of the Iraqi and Afghani people killed by the U.S. (listed at end)
A couple of friends. Or recruit people on the spot to help!

Don't let the victims of the war be forgotten! October 7th will be the two year anniversary of the U.S. bombing and invasion of Afghanistan. Which marks the beginning of the Bush Administration's war upon the people of the world.

To commemorate this grim anniversary, NOT IN OUR NAME calls on people of conscience to participate by finding creative ways to display the names and humanity of those who have been killed:

CHALK THE LIST OF NAMES OF AFGHANI AND IRAQI PEOPLE KILLED ONTO THE GROUNDS OF YOUR CAMPUS or Community. (it's chalk! it's legal!)

Or

HOLD A FUNERAL PROCESSION, CARRYING COFFINGS AND BANNERS TO PREPRESENT ALL THOSE WHO HAVE DIED AT THE COST OF THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION’S WAR ON THE WORLD

Or

GET A GROUP OF PEOPLE TOGETHER AND PAINT YOUR FACES AS GHOSTS & WEAR SIGNS WITH THE NAMES KILLED.

(i.e. skeleton-like: pale, white face with black around the eyes and mouth)

Not In Our Name will we let history take its course over the graves of the nameless. This war and occupation is ILLEGITMATE, IMMORAL & UNJUST. Find your voice and do something to help stop it!

NION with the help of Iraqbodycount.com has compiled a list of names of Afghani and Iraqi civilian causalities. We have affixed a list of these names to this email. We ask that participants take responsibility to represent one of these people at the vigil.

Please respond to this email and let us know if you carried out the action. Don't let these people be forgotten!
