A CALL TO ACTION AGAINST THE G7 FINANCE MINISTERS That should be good for all of us who didn't or cannot make it to New York for the WEF. A CALL TO ACTION AGAINST THE G7 FINANCE MINISTERS Feb 7th, 8th & 9th, 2002 Global Democracy Ottawa (GDO) February 8th and 9th, the Finance Ministers of the G7, as well as the president of the World Bank and the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will meet in Ottawa, Ontario and Meech Lake, Quebec. The policies imposed on developing countries by the G7 through the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led directly to the recent crisis in Argentina. These policies require countries to open their economies to foreign investment. The results in Argentina were disastrous as the economy failed and people became desperate as they were forced into poverty. In solidarity with the people of Argentina, Global Democracy Ottawa will join with others in the spirit of the Cacerolazo* to protest these meetings of the world's elite powers.
