POLITICAL PRISONERS AND ACCUSED PROTESTORS OF THE SUMMIT OF THE AMERICAS NEED YOU HELP!

Alexandre Popovic (mbubuv@yahoo.com)

International for funds and political actions in support of those still in jail and for those who face accusations following the Summit of the Americas.

Quebec, April 25th 2001

POLITICAL PRISONERS AND ACCUSED PROTESTORS OF THE
SUMMIT OF THE AMERICAS NEED YOUR HELP!

MONEY IS NEEDED FOR SHORT AND LONG TERM LEGAL COSTS!

POLITICAL PRESSURES STILL NEEDED OVER LOCAL
AUTHORITIES!

Some political prisoners need money to pay their bail.
The court had decided to let the prisoner get out of
jail only if they pay. In most cases, the cost of
their freedom could be as high as 500$.

Fighting against repression also requires politic
pressure on our authorities.

Quebec City's just went through one of the most
astonishing days of action ever seen in Canada against
the Summit of the Americas, last week-end.

Thousands of protesters resisted to tear gas,
watercanon, plastic bullets assaults launched by more
than 1.500 riot police who had occupied the city to
defend a four kilometer perimeter fence protecting 34
heads of state of the Americas.

The protesters who took part to the resistance
included not only radical protesters who were equipped
with helmets, gas masks, goggles, etc., but also
included students, union members, and "ordinary"
people, who have shown uncommon courage through all
those battles.

Now that Americas heads of state are gone with their
army of cops, dozens of people, out of 463 people
arrests, are still imprisoned in Orsainville jail,
enduring continuous humiliations and unfair conditions
of detention.

To everybody who came to protest, to fight against the
FTAA, and who had returned to continue the struggle in
their community, let's not forget all those comrades
who are still behind bars in Orsainville!

To everybody who couldn't made it to Quebec, but who
were inspired by April 20th and 21th days of actions,
it's now time to show your solidarity with all the
persons who are now paying the price of showing their
dissidence out in the streets.

Now it's your turn to join us in putting pressure over
federal and provincial authorities in order that they
free all the Summit of the Americas' political
prisoners and drop the charges over all arrested
protestors unconditionally and without any more delays

The fight still continues and it's now time to
cooperate by putting pressure on all the authorities
that are
responsible of the repression that are living hundreds
of our comrades who had been arrested. They have to be
unconditionally and as soon as possible, liberate.

Reach your nearest canadian consulates and embassies,
write to them, jam their fax, occupy them, PROTEST!
Put them in the face their responsibilities!

Target canadians and quebecers corporations and
interests, offices federal (RCMP) or provincial (SQ)
police. Make them understand that you too will refuse
to be passive accomplices of their barbaric
treatment of the right to protest!

Tell them that you are fully aware that Quebec City
was turned into of a temporary police state in order
to protect the delegates, governments and corporations
of the Americas, so that they can plot the
privatization of an whole continent!

Let them clearly understand that you won't tolerate
any longer the ongoing detention of dozens of
protestors, and the politically motivated charges over
hundreds of protestors!

Now is the time to show all your solidarity!

Money is still urgently needed to pay bail for some
detained protestors, who've been put as higher as 500$
(Can), but who are unable to pay it as they are broke.
On a longer term, donations will be needed to cover
the legal expenses of all accused, including
travelling costs in order to show up to court dates,
as many charged protestors are living as far as
British Columbia in Canada and others are living in
the US.

Most of the protests groups who've took care of
organising these fabulous days of actions are in debt,
so if its possible for you to contribute generously,
please send money to:
