Dear friends in struggle ...

As you are taking to the streets to protest and confront the Trade Ministers of the Americas and the Americas Business Forum, we send you a brief and modest message of support and solidarity from the Anti-Capitalist Convergence (CLAC) of Montreal (Quebec, Canada).

In fewer than two weeks, the so-called leaders of this hemisphere will be occupying Quebec City for the Third Summit of the Americas. In the context of the largest police and security operation in Canadian history, these heads of state will utter predictably fancy words about democracy, human rights and sustainable development in between their cocktail parties and photo ops. Meanwhile, like the Ministers and corporate heads currently in Buenos Aires, these leaders will continue to perpetuate misery throughout the Americas, which they are putting into writing with their Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA).

We take inspiration from your actions in Argentina, which we are watching closely. Be assured that your words and deeds will be shared with the many people from all over Quebec, Canada and the United States, as well as Latin America, who will be converging on Quebec City for our Carnival Against Capitalism from April 20-22.

Your struggle is our struggle.
