Tennessee male beaten by law enforcement requires federal investigation

Anonyme, Vendredi, Juillet 29, 2011 - 00:33

Police is one of the agents to maintain the security of our society but nowadays they are the one who are doing inhumane acts against our people. They are now one of those brutal people who abuse power that government gave to them.

The F.B.I. is launching an exploration to the Jan pounding of a TN male by sheriff deputies. Reports state the male was stripped, beaten and continuously stunned with a Taser by the authorities. The authorities have yet to face an approaching civil suit being prepared against them. Post resource - F.B.I. investigates police beating Tennessee man by Newsytype.com.

Law enforcement respond to gunshots

A dashboard camera was used to record the event on Jan 23 in a patrol car. It was one of the Humphreys County sheriff deputies that recorded it. Darren T. Ring, 34, of New Johnsonville, Tenn., was present when officers responded to reports of gunshots. Reports show he was drunk but not responsible for any of the firing. Because of a parole violation and resisting arrest, he was charged. He also got charged with three counts of assaulting a police officer.

Beating recorded

The video shows Ring stripping. The deputies forced him to do this. He was also held down by authorities. Others kicked and struck him during this. The beating caused Rink four broken ribs and a punctured lung.

Ring was said in the report written by Deputy James McCord to have poked him, tried to get a weapon and kicked him. "He was extremely violent towards all the deputies trying to restrain him," McCord reported. “He was continuously kicking and spitting on the deputies.”

Defender looks for and finds video

Ring was unable to make bail and sat in jail for five months awaiting his trial. The surveillance footage would not be kept secret for long. It was found in July by Jake Lockert, his court-appointed defense attorney. Lockert subsequently filed a motion requesting the court to drop all charges, saying that the case against Ring is law enforcement's attempt to "cover up their own criminal conduct."

Dropping charges

A statement was made on July 7 by Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis to defend the officers. It was called a “two-dimensional depiction” of what happened in the video. "We feel our deputies will be shown to have conducted themselves as trained when all the facts come out." On July 11, however, the district attorney dismissed the charges against Ring, and he was released from jail.

Bringing in the FBI

The FBI and the Tennessee Department of Exploration have subsequently started separate investigations into the incident. The Ring’s civil rights will be looked into with the FBI investigation. The state law violations are looked into by the Tennessee Department of Exploration.

Authorities lose jobs

In light of the investigation, three of the deputies involved in the occurrence have been placed on administrative leave with pay. The one officer who got suspended without pay was the one from Waverly, Tenn. He supposedly used a stun gun on Ring over and over.

Going to be a civil suit

David Raybin, an attorney now working on the Ring lawsuit, states a civil suit against the authorities is being organized. "The civil rights violations of my client were profound and absolutely unnecessary," he said.
