OFFICIAL PRESS NOTICE

Bogota 24 of January 2008 - Regarding the demonstration of the 4th of February, we, university students, do not fall in the mediatic game of the Colombian regime. The process that goes ahead in the country concentrates the power in the new monarch of Colombia, Mr. Alvaro Uribe. This allows him to hide to the world the atrocity and the crisis of human rights that happens in our country, with the complicity of great national means of communication.

Although the Colombian society is tired of the war, the fatigue cannot lead us to the desperation of supporting a government that is not legitimate, tinted with the blood of humble Colombians. We will not march for the war in which we are convinced of a political and negotiated exit, to the social and armed conflict.

As university students, we believe in the importance of the debate, the discussion and the construction of alternatives to the present regime. We invite all colombians not to play the game of these war propositions and still wait for calls to march by mass media and the national government to eradicate the poverty, the hunger that kills many children of Colombia, the
illiteracy, etc.
