Report from NEFAC’s 12th conference

Anonyme, Mardi, Novembre 8, 2005 - 14:13

NEFAC-Mtl

The Northeastern Federation of Anarchist-Communists held its 12th congress this past weekend (Nov. 5-6) in Sherbrooke, Québec.

Approximately 30 members were in attendance, representing anarchist-communist groups from Québec City, St-Georges de Beauce, Sherbrooke, Montréal, Toronto, Boston, New York, New Jersey and Baltimore.

A position paper on workplace struggles calling for rank and file organizing inside and outside of trade unions was adopted and is due to be published in our magazines as well as in pamphlet form and on the internet in the coming weeks. The basis of a position on Québec’s national question, recognizing the right of self-determination for the Québécois while opposing nationalist ideology, was also adopted.

Organizationally, NEFAC has decided to restructure itself in regional
unions, representing smaller geographical regions where day to day affairs
and plans of action will be easier to manage and implement. The federation
in itself will now only meet for congress’ once a year and will focus on
its publications, theoretical development and the sharing of social
movement experiences.
