Why create a user account?

sebas, Wednesday, February 20, 2002 - 12:25

The new CMAQ site allows each and every one of its users to create a personal, permanent, user account. The creation of such an account involves quite a few advantages in the publishing process - foremostly you can modify the look and content of the site to suit your personal preferences. Thereby, constituting a clear improvement from the former site.

First of all, for a subscribed user, the preliminary information fields (author name, e-mail, etc.), mandatory for publication, will be automatically filled every time you submit new material (this information is kept in a secure user account), which speeds up the process considerably.

A subscribed user will also see every one of their submissions being transferred to a personal archive, accessible from the log-in box and at the end of each submission. Every “comment” will also be sent to a specific section of the personal archives. Thus, the community will be able to recognize a regular collaborator and access their past submissions and comments without having to do a search.

Also, this function is beneficial to every CMAQ user who, by regular browsing or by participating in the discussion forums, will better know the other users and be able to interact with them accordingly. The ensuing exchanges could be that much more stimulating.

We feel that this function, in itself, will greatly contribute to consolidate the on-line community we are trying to create.

N.B. A collaborator who wishes to submit material, without being logged as a subscribed user, can nonetheless publish as an “anonymous”, though he or she will not enjoy the aforementioned benefits.
