The Salon du Livre Libre, an open book fair organized by Cogitateurs Agitateurs will take place from the 18th to the 22nd of November at Café Utopik, from noon to 10PM each day. Organized in response to the Salon du livre de Montréal, the event will inform the public about media concentration, copyright law, small-scale publishing and Open Content. Visitors to the Salon will be able to read free and public domain books and download them to CD-ROM. In addition, there will be conferences and panel discussions on freedom of information in an age of media concentration and commoditized culture. A collection of theoretical and analytical works revolving around the issue of Intellectual Property regimes will be published for the occasion, as well as a collection of original artwork. Entrance and all activities are free of charge.

WHO ARE COGITATEURS AGITATEURS?

Cogitateurs Agitateurs is a group of concerned individuals working together for the creation and advancement of free culture and information networks. Based in Montreal, the Cogitateurs Agitateurs organize through a wiki Web site to coordinate activities and actions (such as the anti-SUV campaign and Turn-Off the TV week). Their collected works are available on the Web site free of charge. Finally, they organize "cogitariums," meetings and discussions open to all. Driven by a concern for freedom and equality for all creators and information users, the Cogitateurs Agitateurs aim to facilitate the production and diffusion of culture outside the dominant market economy.
