Quebec Book

vieuxcmaq, Mercredi, Mai 2, 2001 - 11:00

Quebec Book (quebecbook@hotmail.com)

A collection of reflections and accounts of the scene in Quebec City and around the hemisphere.

A grassroots collective of artists, writers and activists is putting together a collection of reflections, critiques, and/or first-hand accounts of events leading up to and including the Quebec scene and other solidarity actions throughout the Americas. Entries can be situated within the long history of resistance and organizing in local communities, as well as the larger national and global contexts.

We are looking for submissions using a variety of media (print, poetry, photos, artwork, etc.) with a focus/analysis that is personal, non-academic and accessible in nature. The deadline for submissions is very soon - May 10th - as we hope to assemble the book by the end of May and release the book by early fall.

We hope to incorporate a wide-range of perspectives on issues raised in Quebec and beyond and actively encourage First Nations people, people of colour, people with low- or no-income, immigrants and refugees, women, and all others who face systemic barriers to submit, in the hopes of creating a space for reflection for people who too often don't have access to, or are excluded from, this medium. We also encourage children and youth to submit entries.

Although the book will be written in English, we welcome submissions in French and Spanish. Those wishing to submit in other languages, please contact us, as we will try our best to translate these works.

For more info or to submit, please contact us ASAP at queb...@hotmail.com

Thanks
