Refuse a condition (for 'liberation' from jail) that clearly violates our Human Rights

Very often when protestors are arrested, as a condition to be freed before trial or as a sentence, they are forbidden to protest in public for a given time (often many months). This is utterly contrary to our Human Rights and all should completely refuse such a condition. Otherwise said, everyone who is arrested must declare that such a condition as incompatible with his/her Human Rights, the democratic values of Quebec and Canada and, mostly, is contrary to the 'Quebec Charter of Rights and Freedoms of the Person' which states that ''All persons are entitled to fundamental freedoms such as (...) the freedom of opinion, the freedom of expression, the freedom to meet peacefully and the freedom of association''
(the name of the Charter and the excerpt were freely translated).

SUBJECT :
A common condition (for 'liberation' from jail) that clearly violates our Human Rights.

More precisely, very often when protestors are arrested, as a condition to be freed before trial or as a sentence, they are forbidden to protest in public for a given time (often many months).

This is fundamentally a question of democracy. This condition forbids people from publicly expressing their opinions. I truly believe we must refuse this head high.

STRATEGY : Refuse this condition through prison solidarity.

When hundreds of people are in prison, the police do not wish to keep them all for too long. Therefore, if everyone does it, the judges will quickly abandon this condition (at least, for the summit).

Personally, I will never accept that my right to express my opinions publicly be banned and, if need be, I am willing to spend a lot of time in prison rather than accept this.

This idea is launched ! Spread the word !

SUJET :
