Solidarity with the Chattanooga 3: 50 people demonstrate in Quebec-city

About 50 people finaly answer the call to solidarity with the Chattanooga 3 issued by the Groupe anarchiste Émile-Henry and Collectif libertaire Le Maquis. 500 leaflets were distributed during a rally at Carré d'Youville, before a march to the american consulate where, after a speech, the american flag was burned down.

Solidarity campain

Lorenzo Kom'boa Ervin being one of the most well kown american anarchist in Quebec (where he did more lectures than Chomsky or Bookchin) it was obvious that a solidarity campain around the Chattanooga 3 would take place. Also, he' clearly is a real activist, and not just a speacker or intellectual, so this brings more sympathy. So, 3 weeks ago, about 30 people demonstrate in Montreal under the banner of the Comité opposé à la brutalité policière (COBP) who organise, among other things, the internation day against police brutality, march 15th, in collaboration with Black Autonomy (the Chattanooga 3 own anti-autoritarian collective).

In Quebec-city also, where the Groupe anarchiste Émile-Henry and Comité d'accueil du Sommet des Amériques (CASA) have been twice the guest of Lorenzo Kom'boa Ervin in recent years, anarchists also decided, a little bit at the last minute, to take part in the campain. So, two weeks ago, following the refusal to let the black activist in Canada, le Maquis and Emile-Henry decided to launch a call for a march.

If, at the gathering a 1pm at Place d'Youville we where only about a dozen (mainly from the organisers and CASA), after 45 minutes distributing leaflet about the case, we where about 50 to begin the march (!!). We must say that while some where late (as usual), a strong group of highshool students from all over Canada that where in Quebec-city for a bogus Youth Forum join us. Most of them eigther saw our posters or receive our leaflets (in some cases less then 5 minutes before the march!).
