International Action Day "Free Erdogan E."

Anonyme, Samedi, Octobre 28, 2006 - 11:34

Switzerland wants to send political refugees back to turkey, where they will face torture and death. We want to stop this and ask for international support.

Appeal for the international day of action 4.11.2006

No human beeing is illegal, Freedom for Erdogan E. ! Freedom for Dursun Güner!

Switzerland doesn't only integrate itsself in Europe by its repressive
migration policies, no, it also takes the lead with an asylum law, that
doesn't earn that expression any more. The repressive reason of state is in
bloom, instead of talking about asylum, it talks about abuse, always trying
to get as many people as possible expelled. Even extraditions to states that
torture don't contradict the official Swiss policies. We have to show
resistance against the repressive migration policies in Switzerland or in
other countries of the European fort! If the governments of Europe all show
the same oppinion and view of things, then it is even more necessary to
establish a solidarity and resistance, way over the borders of the nations.
We call out for protests and actions of resistance infront of Swiss
embassies, consulate buildings and institutions!

Extradition to a State that uses torture?

The concrete background of the day of action is the feared expulsion of a
political refugee to Turkey, who has lived in Switzerland for 9 years. Turkey
is in the early stages of becoming an EU member and discovers new methods of
persecution of oppositionell people who have fled. International warrants of
arrest get written out, or the turkish authorities direcly demand for
expulsions, such in the case of Erdogan Elmas. Erdogan participated in
revolutionary fights in Turkey, fled as a 16-year old to Switzerland as a
result of imprisonment and torture of his closest environment. Such a past
would actually lead to asylum immediately, Erdogan was accepted temporarily.
9 years later he gets taken into a expulsion arrest because Turkey claims he
killed a police man. Erdogan denies the accusation and all testimonies were
demonstrably due of torture. The Swiss Federal Judiciary Office still
recommands his expulsion to Turkey, which means a disobedience to the anti
torture convention. The decision belonging Erdogan now remains in the hands
of the Swiss federal court.A simular case is the one of Dursun Güner. Turkey
enacted a international warrant of arrest, and even though he recieved asylum
in Switzerland and Italy, the German authorities arrested him when he was
passed the German border. He has been in arrest in Lörrach (near to the Swiss
Border) ever since.

Wilhelm Tell greeting the fort of Europe

The far-right SVP Swiss Federal Council Christoph Blocher seems to bring all
honour to his SVP party, when he fraternitizes with the torturing state
Turkey: Erdogan Elmas should be expelled - no matter (!) what decision the
federal court takes. Apart from earlier public defamation of Albanian
refugees, he also asserts a revision of the anti-rassism law. This would
legitimize the denial of the genocide done to the Armenian. This is one of
many well-known approaches to abolish the social and political achievements.
The reactionary circles have their proposals endorsed by public votation of
the Swiss. Nice direct democracy! The structural background of it, the real
power and capital proportion stay in the dark. As a consequence the
aggrevated new asylum law, that kicks the human right with feet, was accepted
by the population. The Swiss politicians overtake the Europeans on the right
side and demonstrate how to build a fort in fort again.

Solidarity is our weapon

Against all this there was and is resistance in the land of banks and
mountains. Wide spread circles want to prevent the asylum and foreigner law.
For the release of Erdogan Elmas and Dursun Güner an active solidarity
movement developped. They now call for international actions that enlarge the
pressure on the Swiss authorities. Switzerland is about to extradite a
political refugee into torture, the background of it is the tightend
migration and security policies in Europe and Switzerland. Use our solidarity
against it! Of course, this day of action also is a chance to bring together
resistance to call attention to simular cases. If anybody has knows of such
case or if any actions have taken place , please let us know and send us the
corresponding information (information about actions please with pictures) to
